Take a Walk in Our Shoes Poetry Challenge Day 16

My students worked in small groups or individually today on their poems. Each group or individual working on different skills. Some were focused on vocabulary, while others played with line breaks. I am so proud of my flourishing poets.

The Bright Light Shoes
by Ammon Simpson and Mac Stoyles

We are
the bright
light
shoes.
We ain't
no shy,
shoes.
We
stand out
like the lightning
storm.
We rule
the night.
We show
power.
We are
as bright
as the sun.
We want to
go into
the storm
so wear us.

Wonderful Shoes
by Caroline Oster

We go to the store.
We notice some wonderful shoes.
There is a lightning bolt on them.
We buy some socks too.
We strut down the street
in our pretty new shoes.
Everyone loves them
and we love them too.

Insane Style
by Mariela Torres-Steele, Izzy Sheppard, and Tess Moore

Insane style,
Now you know I'm
Such a cool kid.
Amazing shoes, right?
Not as cool as yours.
Excellent, right? Oh yes!

So cool! We love them!
Too shiny for our eyes!
Yech, too cool to get messy.
Electrically bold.

These Awesome Shoes
by Sebastian Retan

White like a blank piece of paper
waiting to be written on.
Black like a dark night.
Made to stand out
to make a difference.
Fierce like a twirling hurricane.
Expensive like a limo.
These awesome shoes.

Lightning
by Mason Michaelsen and Owen VanFleet

Fast like a lightning bolt
my shoes go by.
With opposite colors
a black lightning both
and white outline.
These shoes are awesome.
