Take a Walk in Our Shoes Poetry Challenge Day 11

We chose to write a class poem today for our poetry challenge. It gave us the opportunity to practice writing compromises with each other and to use each other to inspire and grow our thinking. We were focused on describing the owner of these shoes and revising our comparisons.

Roller Derby Queen
by Mrs. Daley's Class

Warrior on wheels,
unstoppable on the rink.
Faster and faster I glide,
like hurricane force wind.
Battling opponents
with my wicked moves and tricks.
Rough and tumble bruises
everywhere you look
like a kaleidoscope of color,
battle scars of my victories.
Skating through the night
never giving up.
Victory is sweet.

  1. Haha. This made me cringe, then giggle. "Wicked moves", "warrior on wheels", "kaleidoscope of color", " battle scars of victories." So many powerful phrases going on here. Bravo, poets!
